Open Garden Scheme Event - Mille Fleur - 31 Dean Street, Bridgetown. Flowering cherries give structure to this rescued, romantic and fragrant garden. Masses of roses are complemented by Clematis, Iris and other annuals and perennials. An orchard and a vineyard add further interest. 10am – 4.30 $6

The Friends of Brixton St Wetlands – “Wetland Wildlife” – Talks by Johny Profumo the Frog Doctor and Glenn Dewhurst with his black cockatoo friends. Old Roses, Tea Roses – an Open Garden Scheme special event – Glen Forrest: Tea roses, once almost forgotten, are now being celebrated for their elegance and beauty and acclaimed as superb shrubs for warm gardens. Six dedicated WA women with a passion for Tea Roses set about combining their various skills and the result is a beautiful book Tea Roses: Old Roses for Warm Gardens. Join us for a walk through this beautiful Hills garden with truly spectacular views and a wonderful collection of roses; then spend some time with the authors as they share their vast knowledge and love for these wonderful old roses that are so suited to our climate. $55 inclusive. Slow Food at Yandee – an Open Garden Scheme event. - Join Slow Food Perth members  

 

in the beautiful farm surrounds of Yandee Homestead, Toodyay.This grand old porticoed

 

 home (circa 1910) is surrounded by a welcoming old-fashioned cottage garden radiating

 

from the circular driveway. The meandering beds are filled with tree dahlias, buddleias

 

and hollyhocks and a new orchard has been planted. Climbing Gold Bunny and Whiskey

 

 roses cover water tanks; there are quiet places to sit and admire the views, and well

 

 established trees including old olives provide plenty of shade. The adjoining farm is home

 

 to donkeys, sheep, alpacas and turkeys.
Meet and talk to producers/growers whose delicious products will also be available to buy.
Slow Food Perth will have freshly prepared lunch platters for sale, and there will also

 

be tea and coffee available.
Talks by leaders of the Slow Food Perth Group at 11.00 am & 2.00 pm will offer an

 

opportunity to find out more about this world wide clean food movement.
Wander through the gardens, talk to the farm animals and enjoy a good day out in the

 

country. There will also be an art exhibition in the shearing shed.
